WHY MONTERO WILL STIMULATE THE YANKEES

Sometimes new blood gets things moving. Yes, it’s true, the Yankees are winning, but they get into ruts at some points and when those losses come in bunches, it seems as though we can’t get anything started. Girardi was quoted earlier today as saying that he hopes Montero will give hem “lightening in a bottle,” and I like that thinking. It’s true, sometimes some new young energy can shake up the stale air and rejuvenate a team.

All year long Yankeeland has been waiting for Jesus Montero to come to the big leagues. Tonight, this kid is making his major league debut in what is viewed by some as the biggest test for both he and the Yankees all season. For some though, it is a new chapter, a short narrowing road to the end. It is clear, Jorge Posada, a loved Yankee and a true warrior of our team for years will see his door slowly close, but as I’ve stated so many times before, he should now focus on what is coming, the new kid. I wrote AN OPEN LETTER TO JORGE POSADA because I’m a true fan of everything he’s contributed to the ball club over his career. I’ve stated that I'd even love for him to catch 1 more game, I’d probably DVR it. I’ve also stated that he needs to go with it, do what the team asks because after all, it’s a team. The DH role and Posada didn’t get along this season and the Yankees gave it more than enough time for him to adapt, they did their part out of respect for Posada. But now, it’s Montero’s turn and today, September 1^st will prove to many in just his first game what he is capable of. In the minors this year, Montero was solid:

In 420 at bats, Montero has 121 hits, 19 doubles, 18 home runs, 67 RBIs and is batting .288.

At one point this season, Butch Wynegar, the coach with Scranton said Jesus looked bored at times, like he needed to be challenged. He was benched for lack of energy. Read it HERE. Maybe it was a sign, maybe it was just a hot week in the batter’s box, or he just seemed like it came too easy, who knows, but there is no denying the kid is worshipped by his fans as we all salivate at the fact that he’s playing tonight. One thing’s for sure, it’s exciting and I’m looking forward to this.

So, salute this kid. Jesus Montero is here, in the bigs and he's about to get the biggest challenge of his life on the greatest team in the world, the New York Yankees. The time is now Jesus, let’s see what you got because we all know what you’re capable of. It’s about to get electric.
