West Texas
It's hard to argue that America is overcrowded if you've ever been to west Texas. I drove for about a 100 miles Northeast of El Paso and almost hit a steer, saw a rancher on horseback (who waved!), and saw a helluva a lot of open land. Pretty cool. Now I know why the Coen Brothers are so enthralled with the scenery (cf. Blood Simple and No Country for Old Men). If you've never drive cross-country, I've done it about a dozen times over the course of my life and I strongly recommend it. It also helps when you get prescribed Tylenol w/Codeine at an Army Hospital for your strep throat. Helps with the spiritual journey!
