"I think I see Blue, he looks Glorious."
The point is, the word "glorious", seems corny to me after Ferrell ruined it, but actually it perfectly fits today's ballgame in the Bronx. Derek Jeter hit his 3000th hit with a home run, but more importantly, he went 5 for 5 today and practically ran the show in New York. How do you explain it? It's Derek Jeter, that's how. The guys got talent, the guy believes in himself and the guy is destined to be a Yankee legend, despite the haters, despite the calls for him to be knocked out of the role of shortstop, despite his age.

Don't forget, Bleeding Yankee Blue was the one who told you that despite the slow start t his year, Derek Jeter was going to be fine. Well, he is, and now everyone who was riding this poor guy is suddenly a fan again. It's amazing how quickly people attach themselves to winners. Luckily for me, I don't have to because I never gave up on my hero... ever.

I think the classiest moment of the day comes from Johnny Damon, now a Tampa Bay Ray, who came out, leading his team to congratulate Jeet on his 3000th. To me, that's not baseball, that's family and you can't help but respect Johnny Damon for doing that. The guy's a class act.
The game today was a see-saw. AJ Burnett pitched until the 6th inning and the Yankees, then Rays kept going back and forth giving up the lead to each other. But overall, it was a good game, but it was because Jeter knocked in Granderson in the 8th to pull ahead and at that point. Clearly that hit was worse for the Rays than the homer ever was.

Final Score on a beautiful day in the Bronx: Yankees 5 - Rays 4.
Congrats to Derek Jeter. By the way you BYB freaks, I wrote WHY JETER IS AN ICON in November 2010. Today, it rings true. He's a true Yankee legend, no one can deny that now.
