There is always a smile that comes to my face when we beat the Rays, probably because I am no fan of Joe Maddon and I love beating division rival teams... all the time. Tonight, the Yankees were out hit by the Rays, but luckily for us, we have Curtis Granderson and he just keeps doing what he does best...play the best damn baseball he can.

Freddy Garcia was awesome tonight. I'm very very happy with the way he pitched. 6.2 innings pitched, he allowed 8 hits and struck out 7. No runs scored on a beautiful shutout by the Yankees pitching. Great job. Don't look now, but Freddy Garcia is still pitching pretty damn good, and it's July!

Granderson cranked out his 26th homer of the year, a shot off of David Price and it was great, it put the Yankees up 2-0 and it turns out that would be all they would need. Later though, someone else gave us some insurance.
Eduardo Nunez committed his 13th error tonight.
E, E, E, E, E, E, E, E, E, E, E, E, E.
That was for everyone who doesn't think errors are a big deal. When you put then in a row, it almost goes halfway across this post. Or, how about this:

Mariano Rivera came in and shut the door and really didn't need to, at that point, it was 4-0 and it wasn't a save situation, but what the hell right? Kick them while they're down. Mo looked awesome. Love that guy.
Final Score tonight: Yankees 4 - Rays 0. I'm happy, I really am. This was a big game for Garcia and a great one for New York. The Yankees have now won 2 of 3 games against the Rays. I don't want to sound selfish, but 3 out of 4 would be kind of nice. Just sayin'.
